Getting Into College: 6 Successful Strategies

1. Get an early start and finish strong - high school just doesn’t happen; be proactive and take advantage of all of your opportunities.

2. Challenge yourself responsibly - take AP classes, do well on your SAT or ACT and develop a strong resume with interesting extracurricular activities.

3. Apply to the best schools for you - applying to too many schools without a battleplan will dilute your chances of admission.

4. Explain your errors and mistakes - you don’t have to be perfect, but explaining things creates authenticity.

5. Join the right clubs and organizations - some schools look for “well-rounded”, others look for “corners and edges”. Be part of high school activities with a specific purpose in mind. Just don’t join.

6. Be true to who you are - choose a college that fits your personal needs and goals. Don’t be casual; reserve the shorthand language and emojis for social media, not your college application materials.
